Pashupatinath or Pashupati is a Hindu temple, 3 km from Katmandu
There you met "sadhu", Hindu holy men, they calmly stare the tourist, some accept money for a photo, as did this man that carefully inspects the one dollar bill I gave him some minutes before

Hi Maria,

Seems like a fascinating scene! The color contrast between the sadhu's robes and your choice of a slightly far POV adds to the ambience of the scene. Indeed it makes one wonder what he'll do with that dollar bill.

A good capture of a cross-cultural interaction.

Hi Maria,

technically the photo is not the excellence, ok, but it represents a cross-section of life extremely interesting, and we are here in TE to know the world through photography and not vice versa.Among other things the dress of sadhu contrasting with the rest creates a visually pleasing clear distinction.

keeping viewing your dollar, i think that is not so holy as he wants to be,sitting with this characteristic pose on the wall's corner.But from the other hand, i like the creating contrast with his clothe under this moody weather.Well done.

One dollar for a photo!
You are crazy! In India with one dollar they can live for a week!
Anyway the photo is very good and interesting. Those ancient temples offer an appealing architecture and the sadhu is a fine subject which contrasts with the bg thanks to the colourful robe.

Aparentemente, el hombre est� meditando acerca de lo que hacer con un billete de dolar, que parece ser una cosa ajena de su universo.La foto es muy buena, porque el hombre tiene un trale rojo, contrastando bien con las piedras sin color. Soberbio el contraste que ofrece este santon, con esa colorida tunica a cuadros rojos, que se destaca de forma tan viva, sobre en entorno de piedra del templo.
Un lugar ideal, que conoc� hace muchos a隳s y que tu bonita foto me hace recordar. Ideal la decoracion que vemos del templo. Buena composicion, con un buen equilibrio luminoso y optima nitidez.

un tr鋊 beau portrait dans un endroit fascinant,c'est vrai,cette histoire de dollar est un peu la m瘱e que la mienne.J'aime la pose du saddhu,et le contraste de son v皻ement et son turban avec l'harmonie de la pierre grise.Le trident derri鋨e lui est un magnifique symbole de saintet�.Superbe!

Never throw old photos, it's a treasure you might one day want to remember. My best advise today.
Nice spotted the Sadhu, sometime I think they do this to impress tourists, and told soome are very serious about being a one. We, westerners, never figure this.
Fine picture, his figure sitting on the stones, has fine contrst to grey.

Hi Maria,
I thought this was selective color, but i see from the tones in the brickwork that is not the case. Amazing how little color there is in the surrounding world, while the sadhu is a burst of red. From viewing your gallery of Nepal, it seems red is a very prominent color here. Love this shot, and even more so to know what this man is doing.

From the thumbnail, I thought this was a partial B&W photo. Now I realize it is the lack of color in the background that makes it look so. I wonder how it would benefit from partial desaturation.
Nevertheless, I like the image. The man is situated strategically in the frame and his colorful clothes against the grey background are certainly an eye-catcher.

Nice portrait Maria, that holy man saddhu baba should go to the money exchange shop to use that dollar note
