Photographer's Note

St. Adalbert Church is the oldest church in Krakow, The church was built in the 11th century. It stands at the south-eastern corner of the biggest medieval market square in Europe, The church preceded the Square by nearly a century. The interior of the church is cramped, relative to its larger exterior. The floor level is situated under the present level of the Square by as much as a couple of meters, which reflects the overlaying of the subsequent surfaces of the plaza with pavement originally adjusted to the two existing churches (including St. Wojciech𠏋), Therefore by standing at the foot of this diminutive church, you'll soon notice that something's a trifle odd.. The church was partially reconstructed in the Baroque style between 1611-1618.
Throughout the early history of Krak闚 the Church was a place of worship first visited by merchants travelling from across Europe. It was a place where citizens and nobility used to meet.

Depiction like relief attracts the interest. it's good idea that white fringes around twigs look like illumination. Red in the sky also makes this scene stand out brilliantly.

Hi Wilson,

The tree is helping to frame the church. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the St.Adalbert church. The diagonal line between the two church is an asset to the composition. Using a tripod, an ISO of 1600 and a shutter speed of 1/20 of a second are making thje colors to stand out. Have a nice day.

Good morning Wilson,
the most i like in the shot is the extremely superb yellow tints of the atmosphere as the good lighting conditions of the old church on the foreground, as the other one on the backdrop.
But i'm surprised with the quality of the photo that after the use of the ISO 1600,and a tripod, the sky looks like to have grains and i cannot understand the reason..Perhaps an even lower exposure time to fixed the problem.

Hi Wilson,

A wonderful night shot and an excellent composition. The beautiful St. Adalbert Church is the main subject, but it also works very well as a lead-in to St. Mary's Church in the background. The colours are very attractive. Such a wonderful photo would really have deserved a better image quality. I really wish that you have been luckier with this. The photo is a bit grainy and looks a bit too sharpened. Personally, I would have used other camera settings. Your use of ISO 1600 might have been part of the problem, but it does not explain everything. I made a test tonight with your ISO and f-stop settings with my Canon camera which is a later version of your model. The shutter speed was � seconds. The image quality was OK. Then I used ISO 100 and f-stop 10 and the shutter speed was 16 seconds. The image quality was better but not very much. TFS and have nice evening

What a sky color! It almost does not look real, but it must be, I guess. Excellent POV and DOF as well. For my taste the sharpening is a bit too much, but otherwise a superb shot. Well done.

A fine night time composition with a very pleasant atmosphere to it. I like the point of view with the foreground church nicely balanced by the one in the background. The lights of the Christmas market and the shoppers set the mood. The exposure is well managed and the tonal palette agreeably warm.

Hi Wilson

I think I have seen this magnificent cathedral in the photos of Emka and Mariusz. It really is spectacular. This is a good night shot, however as you used a tripod, these are the controls I would use in Manual setting: ISO 100, aperture f/11, and shutter speed whatever the meter tells you, maybe about 10-15 seconds. This way, you will obtain a sharper image. The high ISO you used will result in too much noise and the large aperture of f/3 will not give much sharpness. If the meter says to use a shutter speed more than 30 seconds, use Bulb instead of Manual and also use a cable release if you have one as this will ensure a sharp image. Hope you don't mind me saying this.

POint of view and composition are very good. But your picture is over sharpness. It is extremly dammaged. I think you did not use tripod and try to capture with high ISO. tfs
