As Red As White, a photo from Delhi, North

Photographer's Note

This shot was taken at Delhi's Jantar Mantar situated in the modern day Connaught Place (Rajiv Chowk).
It consists of 13 architectural astronomy instruments, built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur, from 1724 onwards, and is one of five built by him, as he was given by Mughal emperor Muhammad Shah the task of revising the calendar and astronomical tables.
One has been used to looking at this place and the instruments painted in red ever since I can remember...but a media report recently mentioned that this place would now be turned to white as it was orginally white in colour. I wonder if it will look the same in its new colour and will give same number of opportunities to photographers.

I think in white it may look like a building on a Greek Island, provided there is a blue door somewhere. Looking at this image I think it would be a shame to re-paint the building, the red is such a striking colour.

Interesting note about this unique place. I really do wonder what the site will look like if it is painted white. One thing is for sure...your thick white frames would blend into the photo too much! :) Anyway, it is good that you are taking the opportunity to photograph this vibrant orangeness before it is too late. Maybe after the transformation, you can share with us what the outcome looks like. I like the different shape elements involved in the architecture, with its simple geometric lines and curved archways. Good colours, appropriate frame choice and great details. This type of architecture started from India is also seen in Cambodia but 18th century is new to them for the Angkor Wat.

I'm sure there will be many who do not like the change in color. That said you did great justice to the red her with the sharp simple lines malong with the white floor what a very sharp definer to this simple but brilliant image.
