Photographer's Note
this is an afternoon fisheye glimpse of the sun going down above Oia.
Oia is the place where fisheyes - contrary to tourists - find it more interesting when the sun hasn't yet entered the sunset zone.
shot is made from three handheld NEFs HDR-treated with FDRTools and edited with CS3.

absolutely fantastic shot, Kostas. I've always felt that there are very few situations and even fewer people that know how to use the fisheye smartly, and not simply going for an effect in an attempt to boost a mediocre shot. but here the fisheye emphasises what's already a beautifully composed scene.
love the combination of bright blue and white, love the exaggerated curve of the stairs in the foreground. the sun is just the right accent that turns this scene into something resembling fairy tale. superb work, my compliments.
regards,
Kristine

completely surreal scene: reminiscent of Dali's creations; just some half body standing on one arm is missing somewhere ;)) the fisheye is playing out nicely here: complimenting the natural curves of the architecture. fine work with the HDR too.

Hello Kostas,
A splendid biew with the rounding of the sea matched by the rounding of the stairs. So clear colours with well matching tones of blue and grey and speckles of yellow. And all this in back-light with a magic sun. A feast for the eye.
Well done.
Regards,
Paul

Kosta,
When I see your note,I have some idea how you did it,for me it is too hi-tech,but it looks very nice, with amazing Greek colors, very good details and sky is beautiful.

P.S.Your gallery is kind of unusual,a mix of everything.

Great shot, I really like the lens you used, and the effect it has on the sun, not to mention the fisheye effect. The color and sharpness of the shot are great.

Hello Kostas,
In my opinion, technical wizzardry does not always lead to a good picture, but here it really works and the result is impressive. Great curving effect and a magical sun above it all.

your fisheye shot works well, good frame with the curve of the stairs on the bottom. Good light and colors. And the picture is very sharp everywhere.

Hello Kostas,
This is one of the finest photographs that I have seen from Oia!
The fisheye lens gives a fantastic perspective. The clouds and the rays from the sun add drama. I like the cobblestone walk in the foreground which leads the viewer the faded blue door.
Some day, I plan on visiting this awesome island.

David

Hi Kostas,
Wow! This is truly a great sight to behold. You have captured something really special and made it original (even though this spot has been photographed so many times by different photographers). The use of HDR really works here and the details in this shot are fantastic as well. Great composition, colours, framing, sharpness...the list can go on. Definitely one of my favourites! Thanks for sharing!

Hello Kostas!
That's a fantastic picture of a truly dreamland! The greek islands are known all over the world for their beauty and, unfortunately, I haven't been there yet! Nevertheless, when I see such excellent pictures, my wish to go there gets bigger and bigger! Excellent light, sharpness and point of view! Colors are wondeful! The sun as a real star is also a highlight! The fish-eye here worked superbly!
TFS - Congratulations!
Warmest regards!
Have a fantastic 2009!
