A tower of Astraka under siege, a photo from Ioannina, Epirus

Photographer's Note

From a picturesque, romantic harbour in the Mediterranean (SEE PREVIOUS POST), to the wild mountains. That's the beauty of this small country, called Greece.

I have written in some of my previous posts from the Papigo villages, about Astraka, one of the tallest peaks of Tymfi mountain at 2436 m, and its imposing "towers", the vertical rocks that have a height that can reach the 800 metres and are the perfect "playground" for climbers. Here you see one of the many "towers", under cloud attack.

impressive rock you show us here, really a perfect landscape for "climbers"; but as most i like the sentence in your kind note about Greece (Mountain high - sea low) or as great old "Tina T." would sing "Rivers deep, mountain high"..

Fantastic appearance through the clouds of this stony mountain sprinkled with snow. The contrast of the warm colours of cliffs in this white universe is really extraordinary.
We have the impression that you took the photo since a helicopter!

Very nice! Very impressive too! An excellent framing very well selectd and a pleasnt mixt betwee, light and fog. The light give here warmo colors very well collected.

You managed to capture some wonderful light on the rock as the clouds move in and around the peak. The patch of blue compliments the oranges found in the rock.

A stunning capture of the clouds, with great light control. I think you should try cropping out most (but not quite all) of the blue sky and see if that makes it even more dramatic.

Well I'm the kind of person who love both sea and mountains ad certainly those are gorgious mountains. Your framing is very good in showing closely the fine details and textures of the rock and its beautiful colours. And the clouds create a fine contrast with the warm light at the right. Well done,

Zoom και cropping πολύ καλά!

Σαν κέικ μοιάζει που μόλις βγήκε από το φούρνο με την άχνη του, έτοιμο!
Το λέω και το εννοώ, γλυκές αναμνήσεις έρχονται στο νου μου� η Αστράκα είναι η αγαπημένη μου κορφή!
Σίγουρα ζηλευτή εικόνα, μα εμένα μου λείπει περισσότερο η επαφή με το βράχο, οι δυνατοί σφυγμοί, η καταπόνηση, η ομίχλη �. η αγριάδα σε απόσταση αναπνοής!
Αυτή η γειτονιά, εκεί ψηλά μου αρέσει πολύ! Ψηλά μπαλκόνια με θέα, απόλυτη ησυχία, Θεία ομορφιά!
Περιμένω καρτερικά την στιγμή που θα βρεθώ πάλι στα ψηλά τ� αλώνια!
Μέχρι τότε θα γευτούμε ότι στο κελάρι έχουμε φυλαγμένο.

Γειά σου Ηρακλή,
Εκπληκτική φωτογραφία που καθόμουν και την χάζευα για αρκετή ώρα όταν την είχα πρωτοδεί στο περιοδικό. Το ανάγλυφο των βράχων σε συνδιασμό με το σύννεφο που αγκαλιάζει την κορυφή δίνει ένα καταπληκτικό αποτέλεσμα. Αυτή η φωτογραφία καθώς και η άλλη στις κολυμπήθρες ήταν ένας λόγος που με έκαναν να θέλω να πάω αμέσως στα Ζαγοροχώρια.
