Paris, business area of La D嶨ense (west of the french capital).

among the about sixty permanent pieces of art present on the district, the Red Spider by Alexander Calder is one of the most emblematic.

created in 1974 by the american sculptor and painter, it was set on the Parvis de la D嶨ense in 1976, year of Calder's death. it's on the foot of Plade D嶨ense building, under the Total (the oil firm) tower.

This kind of sculpture was called "Stabile" by Calder. We can see other examples in Chicago ("the Flamingo"), Jerusalem, Hanovre...

Salut Yannis,
une cadrage os� qui fonctionne super bien je trouve. L'opposition courbes et droites, ainsi que rouge et noir est int廨essante. Avec en prime quelques nuages sympas et assez graphiques dans le ciel. Bien vu.

I know this sculpture well...a photographed it in the late evening darkness last month...quite an interesting work, reminiscent of a giant metallic spider. Good framing and of course the contrast between the red and blue stands out!

Composition tr鋊 graphique, couleurs flashy et ciel tourment� (c'est l'impression qu'il donne en tout cas): on dirait un tableau abstrait, j'aime beaucoup!
