One of the best bird shots I´ve seen on TE.
Great bird. I like how the colors of the owl work with the colors of the branch. And how the round shape of those yellow effective eyes is repeating in those round "spots" in very beautiful background.
Also technically excellent shot – one of my very favorites. Very-very well done – and welcome on TE.

Welcome to TE, Seattle, with this spectacular bird shot. Excellent detail and colors in the plumage of this unique owl, and it is very well captured sitting on the branch, and against the colorful and blurry background. Very good start, looking forward to your next photos.

Hi Seattle, very nice shot and it is always great to see someone else posting from Taiwan. Very nice and sharp with good DOF I think. I find the highlights in the bokeh just a little distracting, I would consider toning them down just a little, but the sharpness and composition are just excellent here.

Great composition. The owl looks very sharp and thanks to an excellent DOF the background is wonderful.
Very good.

Hands down amazing work! The placement and sharpness of your subject is simply amazing (gotta love that 300/2.8, eh?). The background makes the owl stand out even more. Excellent work.

This is excellent: the bird's eyes are perfectly sharp and looking straight into the camera, the background nicely blurred, the colors and light simply beautiful. Love the composition: round eyes, round head, on top of the straight branch.
Great start on TE!

Welcome to TE. This is a very impressive first post. I love the way the background has been thrown totally out of focus thereby minimising any distractions from the main subject. Positioning in the frame is nice, rule of 1/3rds and all that. Although the owl is quite small in the frame I think it works well as, along with the notes, it helps to emphasise the small size of the bird.
If I wanted to find something negative I would mention the very light circles to the left and above the owl. They are a minor distraction in a first class picture.

If this is your first post then we'd better prepare ourselves to be blown away. An outstanding shot, with all the right elements including a blurry background, an off-centre owl that makes the pic work well, and just outstanding overall composition. Welcome!

I was speechless...now i'm fine again. Sharp, nice colours, great composition. The bird is very atractive but it is also staring at us quit arrogantly. It's a captivating picture. Not only because of this beautiful bird. The background is also stunning, especially that grey-blue leaf. How did you do that? Is this a trick or a side-effect of a mirror lens?

Wonderful composition with great contrast bewteen the mottled feathers and the green background. The yellow of the eyes staring straight ahead, draw the viewer in for a closer look. Well done.

A fantastic photo. The image of the owl is razorsharp and I love the blurred green background, especially the darkgreen branch. What did you do to the background? Blurred it in photshop? I also like the fact that the owl is not centered. And he/she's looking straight at us. Well done!

It's really cute *g* even though I think with 16 cm length it still might be quite impressive.
Regarding composition: Off-center is good, the branching twig gives a nice add-on, and DOF is well done for giving a focus on the owl.
