along the Hope Road, a photo from Trarza, South

Photographer's Note

Mauritania,
a few kilometres after Nouakchott, on the "hope road" that links the capital to Nema, 1100 km at the east.
This axis gave the opportunity to open up the east area of Mauritania (the Tagant...) and created an open to the Mali.
The long (and quite good) road crosses sandy landscapes and the little animated towns alternate with a more opened housing where live people with nomad habits.

Bonjour Yannis,

I like the composition here with the road deservedly taking up about 1/3 of the scene. The man, of course, has a lot of 'couleur locale', with his soft blue clothes, but I also like that universal plastic bag he's carrying and his golden watch. It adds a touch of recognition, which I often value more than exotic-ness in this kind of pictures.

Nice and imaginative work.

hello Yannis,
I like the photo a lot, the strong light that makes everything look pale fits well this image that seems to radiate African heat. the flowing robe, the scorched soil - all these things add up to emphasises how hot it must've been when you captured this. interesting note too about the "hope road" being equal to trade road.

Ton personnage est merveilleusement plac� dans cet 彋range d嶰or presque d廥ertique. Le vent dans le v皻ement apporte un tr鋊 beau mouvement. La lumi鋨e est douce pleine de transparence tout comme les couleurs.
Et puis, la sc鋝e se passe sur la route de l'espoir... et en voil� une tr鋊 belle illustration.
Bravo, c'est une superbe photo!

Hello Yannis. A few meter of road. At the roadside a man with blue cape. He carries a green bundle. That is everything. The view from above on the scene works very well. I assume that you photographed him from a vehicle. However, the photo pleases me very well. Regards, Wolfgang.

despite the traditional clothes the man is taking a modern plastic bag (bad garbage). perfect the position of the personage, these details in the road and the framing puting the asfalt in a side and life in the other. some minimalist mood too. beautiful work

Tr鋊 sympa cette composition Yannis !
Tr鋊 peu de couleurs, ce qui fait que le v皻ement bleu de l'homme ressort dr犨ement bien sur la photo.
J'aime bien le cadrage 嶲alement, le fait que le personnage soit d嶰entr� 彋ait vraiment ce qu'il fallait faire selon moi.
Je me sens vraiment ailleurs quand je regarde cette photo, tr鋊 tr鋊 loin.

Avec ses allures de Touareg et cette route qui finira aval嶪 sur les bords par le sable (?) je vois l'afrique en marche vers un avenir toujours incertain mais un espoir d嶨initif.

il d嶨ie l'univers min廨al comme les plantes sur sa droite.
il est bien s壜 lui-m瘱e, tel individu singulier dans sa soci彋�, mais il est aussi chacun d'entre nous sur la route de l'espoir.
