Photographer's Note
The headland at the south end of Umina Beach has many interesting rock formations which are fun to photograph if the tidal conditions are right.
I was amazed to see at the edge of the headland this amazing natural fishbowl which is its own little eco-system. It must be refreshed with new water at high tide but it is still sheltered and protected enough to contain seaweed , crabs and little fish inside.

Hello Kathryn,
his is a very original photo. First I was confused about "milky" water, lookoing like haze, until I fount the exposure time of 3 seconds. Well composed with the "fishbowl" in the front. A litle bit strong blue tone but I like it. A well presented crop allows eyes to remain fixed on the "fishbowl". The blue-purple sky color in the background also lends a lovely hue to the scene. Nicely done.

Hello Kathryn, the 3 second exposure works pretty well, smoothing the sea without taking all the motion away and the rock pool is certainly a big plus.
Original colours in a well composed sea scape.
Best regards Les.

Hello Kathryn
What a great shot... I love the pool in the foreground and its clarity. I like the curvy shape of the pond and how that contrasts with the horizontal line of the horizon too.

Great idea and execution. The composition of keeping the oval 'fishbowl' on the forground - with its stillness and depth is excellent.
The clarity of the elevated land, with weeds, algae and bare rocks are a contrast to the dense and misty sea with a seemingly smokey and smouldering surface.... So is effect of the dark jagged land mass in the horizon; jutting out to the sea like a charcoal log over ashes....
Morning Light helps create the magic of colours...
Thanks for sharing.

Hello Kathyrn
The thumbnail intrigued me and the full size does disappoint.
The contradiction of the moody long exposure effects on the sea give a dramatic counterpoint to the stillness and depth of your highlight, the fish bowl.
Did you see this effect in your minds eye beofre you took the picture, or was it only after the event you realsied the potential. Dumb question, looking at your other work, of course you saw it first !
Lovely morning colours gives the whole a lovely hue.
( I love the wisp of water curling around the base ! )
regards
Martin

I really like this one, Kathryn. The combination of the slow shutter with the pool of unmoving water enhances the ocean's resemblance to clouds, giving this a sense of being extremely high up, rather than at sea level. The overall muted tones make the green around the pool all the more vibrant and bright, and as always you've given us a great look at an interesting shoreline in gorgeous early morning light. Great catch!

Hi dear Kathryn
I like how you've placed the fishbowl to the right foreground, it leads the eye so well into the image, but also makes me a bit curious about the little microcosm you've displayed. All that life and detail in the fishbowl, in addition to the wonderful details we see in that swirling sea. I particularly like that little curl of mist in the left foreground. There's something very enticing about that and the pinky blue pastels are like the icing on the cake.
Congratulations and I hope you're all well

Hi Kathryn
a striking seascape that actually looks like you are above the clouds as a result of the 3 second exposure. Glorious light, colours and POV that make this shot quite spellbinding. Beautiful!
Enjoy your weekend - Brian.

Excellent composition here. The foreground pool of water provides great interest. My only critique that I have is that throughout the image overall there is very strong magenta/cyan color cast especially in the water. I'd consider toning that down in order to better separate the elements in your image.

Good Morning Kathryn,
This looks like something from a science fiction film! In the f/g is the hole to the future or, maybe, a mirror on the world! It is mighty impressive!!
It is a beautifully composed shot, with all the elements strongly placed. The colours are captivating, whilst the slow shutter speed has created a softness, like floating clouds.
Have a lovely Sunday,
Bev :-)

Ciao Kathryn,
Cheers !

Hello Kathryn
Another of your superb coastal images: just how many more have you got up your sleeve? Can't work out if this is dawn or dusk, although I think you're facing south-east. Either way, the pinkish tones and the long shutter speed have combined to create a mouth-watering image, which manages to show both calm and rough seas in one photograph.

Howdy Ms Weir,
A dreamy view of Umina shore and tide pool, with the calm pool surrounded by moving water, all in low level and colorful lighting.
Certainly looks like a fine place to be, and I am envious.
Congratulations on another fine art piece and have fun,
Sincerely,
Ray

Hi Kathryn:
Once again you have an interesting foreground, great time of day and, of course, a nice, slow shutter speed to create a misty feel. The rock formations look like mountain peaks above clouds (the ocean) with you as the photographer above them. Great effect.

Hello Kathryn,
a lovely image which looks simple at first glance but the more you look at it the richer it becomes. It captivates the viewer with very the intriguing natural elements, beautiful colours, mesmerizing sense of movement and constant discovery of details. Depth and perspective make a great part of the fascination. The stillness and transparency of the fishbowl contrasts most intriguingly the blurry texture of the agitated sea. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
Ourania

Kathryn!
A very nice image! Love the purple tones in this one, especially that natural mini pool which contains full of sea creatures! The soft blurs on the water creates this cloud like effect which really adds beauty to the scene. Well composed!
all the best,
Matt
