Photographer's Note
Another shot taken on the road between the lakes at Band-e-Amir and Yakawlang. Here the road has risen above the valley floor leaving the river and greenery below. The road that you see is one of the better routes in central Afghanistan.
Some tech notes: I used AutoLevels and further tweaked brightness and contrast. I also ran through NeatImage to remove a little noise in the sky. I have not boosted saturation - the mountain really is this colourful.

Hi Jonathan,
I'm continuing to be impressed by these original colours! The surface of the mountain is marvellous and the usual contrast with the strong blue sky enhances it. And again, good ws.
TFS,

Amazing colours, Jonathan - I wonder what mineral it is in the ground that causes these colours. It looks like the colour of bauxite. Perhaps there is hidden wealth in some of these more barren areas of Afghanistan - but I am sure the geologists have surveyed these areas in the pre-Taliban days. Good composition and PP. Cheers . . . David

I just love this "series" you have of these fairly bleak landscapes with striking colors in ground and sky. Composition is just right with the horizon well placed. Nice work, Jonathan.

Jonathan, cette photo est encore plus belle que les autres. Cette montagne rouge est une b幯嶮iction pour le photographe surtout avec un ciel aussi bleu.

Hi Jonathan, An impressive capture of the golden red mountain against the blue white sky. A well capture of the mountain formation and detailed texture. Thanks for sharing the valuable pictures from the area, not many tourists have the fortune to visit.

Hi Jonathan
No saturation boost? The colours are incredible. Such a fabulous landscape yet so rarely visited. The road indicates human presence in this otherwise desolate landscape.

Hi Jonathan
Amazing colours, people talk about the red sand in the australian outback, but that is nothing compared to this. this is really red, and with the blue sky in the background to further underline it.
Nice work
