�Yerevan - Summer night at Republic Square�

Republic Square (or Hanrapetutyan Hraparak in Armenian; once it was Lenin Square) is one of the places where the residents of Yerevan and its visitors like to spend their summer evenings.
Another place is the Yerevan Cascade.

In summer the evenings and nights are still warm and people like to spend that time in open air. I must admit that I was greatly (and pleasantly) surprised at the number of terraces that the Armenian capital counts. In summertime Yerevan has a real Mediterranean atmosphere.
Around the many fountains on the square it was cozy and crowded up to the nighttime hours.

The vast square is completely surrounded by beautiful buildings that are well illuminated at night.
In the workshop you see how Republic Square (or at least a part of it) looks like at daytime.

Hello Paul,
Although I quite enjoyed Yerevan it is not a city with the greatest atmosphere. I found Republic Square one of the nicest places, especially towards evening when people were gathering. You used the water of the fountain very nicely to create almost an illusion of Yerevan being a city by the sea. I don't remember which building this is, maybe the Foregin Ministry, but it is beautifully illuminated and the reflections are really attractive.

Most impressive night shot, Paul.
The details of the illuminated edifice shown superbly over water in a fine reflection.
Perfect camera set as no bulb-glare in excess. The daytime view as in the WS, in no-less attractive photo.

Hi Paul,

I can certainly understand why this would be a popular spot based on this one image alone. :) The building itself is interesting, but taken under the darkness of night, and lit under both artificial and florescent lighting has made it even more appealing. The reflection is beautiful, and I really like how you've filled the entire frame with focus on those two aspects. Super contrast to compliment the bright lights and color. A view worthy of being photographed for sure! Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Take care.

Great composition with this great building, which gives a nice game with geometric shapes to the composition, their reflections in the large fountain creates an overall effect, really fabulous, by the superb daylight image samples instead we see is a place nice and lovely.
Magnificent this palette in the black night.

gotta love the black hour!it provides excellent opportunities to capture reflections.
and thats exactly what we see here.
the black sky is so important too, gives the all important contrast for the bright light.

Hello Paul,

Your photograph is so beautiful, with the many artificial lights illuminating the building against the black sky and creating its double, shimmering, artistically in the surrounding water.
I'm not surprised that people like to congregate, here, it seems like a natural meeting point.
It is attractive during the day but does not have the same atmosphere, generated at night.

Hello Paul, You must now quickly post photos otherwise I will be ahead of you :). Fantastic night shot. Attractive composition with beautiful reflection in the pond. I think that there are dancing fountains somewhere there. And the building with the tower is probably Government of Armenia. Quite a crowded place.

I booked a few days in a hostel not far to it so I will come there probably every evening with my tripod, it seems to me the nicest place. But the cascade also seems good place for interesting photos. Excellent picture.

Hi Paul,

The gorgeous shaped building is glowing in the dark. The slightly blurred reflection is the best part of the picture. The sky is so dark. It makes the square more noticeable and more beautiful.

Een zeer geslaagde nachtopname, met een mooi overzicht van het fraai verlichte regeringspaleis. Het is altijd lastig om nachtfoto's scherp te krijgen, maar deze is goed gelukt, en dat zonder een statief, vermoed ik. Je hebt een goed standpunt gekozen zodat het hele gebouw mooi weerspiegeld is in het gladde water. Erg goed werk (toch heb ik een voorkeur voor de foto in de WS).

Hi Paul,
I forgot that your trip after Georgia has continued. I am very curious to see now your reportage from another underrepresented country on TE. I have heard the name of the Armenian capitol but I wouldn't be able to mention any building there or any sight. So ignorant. And this is where your photos come in: to fill the void.
Interesting structure here, the fact that you captured it at night and with the water aspect in the foreground enhanced very much the effect.
