Photographer's Note

Kampot is the capital of Kampot Province in southern Cambodia. This quiet riverside town just a few kilometers from the Gulf of Thailand is well known for its famous black pepper. Crab with kampot pepper is one of the culinary highlights of South-East Asia. It's a relaxed place which sees its share of tourists, though not too much.

This picture shows a bricklayer taking a break. I hope they build sensibly and preserve the old colonial architecture as much as possible.

In the background, though well worn, the wall and shutter you see here are a typical example of the French colonial style in former Indochine.
