Photographer's Note

There is nothing like the innocent play of children to warm the heart. Generally, people in Cambodia are very happy to pose for you. Taken around Kampong Chhnang off the beaten track, it was just ordinary village of
stilted house on the bank of Tonle Sap river.

Their mother were washing cloths outside but he was full of smile and happiness when I pointed camera to him. Poor but happy kids and despite many obvious woes, Cambodian kids especially in the small towns and the countryside, seem optimistic.

Setting: 70 mm, 1/100 sec, F9, ISO Raw 200, 1540 hrs

Hello Abmdsudi,

I found myself smiling in response to this photograph, which is always a good sign that a photograph has created a reaction!
The three children are all reacting differently to you and your camera! Of course, it is the oldest, tallest child that we register first and fill us with smiles but the other two are worth noting. One is not quite sure what to do, whilst the smallest is looking for reassurance from big brother. She would possibly have smiled later!!!
I enjoyed this.
I like how you have included the details of the colourful fabrics, maybe the washing!

A really good photo of these three children in the door opening with the oldest one smiling into the camera. I like the warm colours here, of their shorts and the chequered cloths at left, well done.

Do I have to emphasize that this photo too, shows the distinctive marks of your photography? The subjects of the photo pop out from the dark and dull bg. I like the smile on their faces, too!
