Photographer's Note
under the triangular arches of the Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
actually a very noisy place but most people were concentrating on the light show just outside these arches.
hope you find this interesting, any comments 'd be more than welcome :)
hv a nice day/night.

Hello Cheuk,
Une compo très graphique, la lumière dans les colonnes est superbe et met le tout en relief. La femme est un peu dans l'ombre mais sa présence est malgré tout un plus. Bravo !

Stéphanie.

Hi Cheuk
This is an interesting composition. First i thought it was a tilt, but with the man,it give an interesting perspective.
Very nice light.

Hey Cheuk,
I was just about to post a very similar shot...you did a unique style in this composition, used the lights above these triangular arches instead of the predictable exterior side of it. The use of B&W makes the lines more powerful, the contrast in shadows are superb, very good visual balance, I like they shopper's positioning makes the still photo move a bit and resulted in a pleasing yet strong illustration of life and architecture!
Always!

Hi Cheuk Hin!
I very much like this photo. Graphical photo at its best. A symphony of oblique lines. No, there is not tilt at all here. There is the illusion of a tilt. But no. You did it, clear and perfect. The row of soft white lights, another oblique, is a pleasure for the eye.
But there is that unique woman walking, almost a ghost, an essential element in what would be otherwise a very striking architectural photo. That photo now has depth. With that woman there, you achieved a photo that will stay in me.

Hi Cheuk,
Not an easy picture, but on the other hand a very interesting one. The way you composed it is excellent with the diagonal composition lines and the minimum on detail is just enough to give it a certain mood which i really like.
Good work, and very good exposed.

Hi,
The towering arches and the 'tiny' human in this great POV makes the picture all the more interesting...

Hey Cheuk,
Ill start with what I think is the weakness here and thats the darkness. Its a bit difficult to see her, and she ends up being lost in the darkness. Its a bit unfortunate as she is the subject of this composition. Now, the positives are plenty, but to somebody like me who is cazy anout strong geometry in photos, the diagonals of the ceiling are fantastic. Theres so much weight up there and it all seems to be pressing down on her. Amd the repetition of the lights and the lines is superb.

LOVE it, Cheuk! Very nice composition, mysterious, dramatic impact of light, and fantastic use of these tilted arches with lights on them. Excellent, brilliantly seen, a formidable sepia.

Before seeing the woman I thought you had tilted the shot, but then I realised I was wrong. The architecture is amazing and the woman is so necesssary to make this a successful composition. Possibly a bit too dark, but nevertheless a fine image.

Hi Cheuk
A shot so typical of you...at first I saw a tilt & soon corrected myself. The geometry & the light thru the windows is wonderful..but I'll nitpick about the overall darkness & I can barely see the woman. But then it's a difficult light to handle & you've done an admirable job in composing this. Bravo on your effort

This is really superb, Cheuk.
It's a wonderfully graphic image, and I like the high contrast of the B&W conversion.
The low light, combined with the bright windows overhead, has given this real atmosphere.
Good work.

Hi Cheuk.

Very nice, Cheuk, I like the way the scale of the architecture dwarfs the woman. The rhythmic diagonals make for a strong composition. Well seen. Regards, Ken.

Great pic here Cheuk. I love the detail, sharpness, and tones of the building, and adding a human to the photo really does give it a sense of scale! I might have been tempted to have brightened up the woman, but that's just my view. Great stuff!

Hello Cheuk,
Belle prise de vue, très graphique.
J’aurais par contre aimé voir la personne se détacher un petit peu plus du fond noir !
Belle image en tous cas
Bravo

Sweet danger! I would have called this 'the future' or something of the like... It reminds me of great sci-fi movies where robots and other human constructions have become overwhelming to the point where we are no longer even sensitive to their existence. The thumbnail made me think that you had simply tilted the picture but as I saw the whole I was quite surprised!
You have managed to "quarter her off" quite effectively and your diagonal light line is simply perfect. A truly grandiose shot that allows us to rethink our relationship to all things we create.
TFS!
