Photographer's Note

Svaneti in Georgia offers a fabulous landscape and breathtaking sceenery with its 4000 to 5000m peaks and spectacular medieval villages wich still host some defensive towers which the families used to defend themselves in. They climbed in through the first floor and then pulled in the access ladder, a pretty effective way to stay safe in those times. Today these towers which are so characteristic for the region are in danger of disappearing as the local lack the money to renovate and maintain them. Some villages have been named Unesco worl heritage but I'm not sure it will be enough to save this cultural heritage! Let's hope some will be saved!

Hello Leonie,
This is a marvellous view and a very attractive composition. The lush green hillside forms a triangle facing the opposite direction of the triangle created by the more distant mountains and hillside. The nearest triangle is nicely framed by the horizontal village and the diagonal line of defence towers. It gives me an urge to see this for myself.

Interessant cette collection de tours qui viennent souligner la diagonale, mais je sais pas si elles resisteraient longtemps aux chars du camarade Putin... belle neige encore pour fin juin
