Murshidabad - VI

This is the railway station at Murshidabad district HQ town- Baharampur.Murshidabad was a town and district of British India, in the Bengal Presidency. In the Mughal period it was the capital of Bengal. The town of Murshidabad is on the left bank of the Bhāgirathi-Hooghly or main sacred channel of the Ganges.The city today is a center for agriculture, handicrafts and sericulture. The famous Murshidabad Silk, much in demand for making saris and scarves.As of 2001 India census,Murshidabad had a population of 36,894. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%.About 70% of the population is Muslim. Murshidabad has an average literacy rate of 66%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 71%, and female literacy is 61%.

Hi Farhat,
nice the snapshot in front of the railway station at Murshidabad with the lot of people to stay out of it and the two cyclists to are waiting for their customers.I like the daily life scene of the place as the charmy pose this on the left man on his bicycle.

an eclectic mix of new and more traditional modes of transport give lots of interest to this busy,nicely composed scene.

Hello Farhat,
Fine taken picture of the street scene in front of the RR station.
The Rikshaw men paitiently waiting for arriving passangers, taking a daytime rest.
It is a puzzle that literacy still prevailes in such number on the internet-era we living in.
Nicely described note, learning some new things every day on TE.

Hello Farhad,
An ordinary but pleasant view of the little crowd at the railway station. Even in small places there is always a certain buzz when a train has arrived or is about to leave. The rickshaw-men waiting for passengers and the red motorbike frame the central view nicely and symbolize in a way old and new aspects of India.

have you tried counting all the people? haha
it would be nice to get a close up photo of that Rickshaw driver in the yellow shirt :)

at first glance i would never have guessed this was a train station. I enjoy these everyday type of shots, its a true view of the life and of its people.

I would have never guessed this to be the train station, almost seems like more of a market place scene. :) I'm afraid it would be far too easy for a tourist to walk by and miss his scheduled departure!? :) Full of life and activity with many interesting details scattered throughout. Social conversations between men seem well-liked in Baharampur, according to this busy exotic scenery that reminds me of greek behavorial ways of life excluding femininity.
The tree provides a nice visual balance, by comparison with the old station.
