Jama Masjid Mosque.
Looking back at my photos from India, I can't believe I have not yet posted a photo of the beautiful Jama Masjid Mosque in Delhi.
This just goes to show that i have soooo many more photos to post from India, so i'd better get started.
I struggled whether I should post this version, or the black and white version. Therefore I'll put the monochrome shot in the WS. I'll post several more photos of this mosque from different pov's over the next several days.
This was the very very first subject we visited during our India trip, so it was off to a wonderful start! We spent approx 2 hours here walking the site, walking around inside the mosque, walking up on the rooftops, there are so many places to explore in this one location.
Jama Masjid Mosque is one of the largest mosques in India, it was built between 1644-1656. It contains red sandstone and white marble. With its huge court yard, its 3 domes, and 2 towering 120 ft high minarets - this is a beautiful mosque for sure.
I apologize if the colours are too bold, i actually de-saturated them but its still showing up quite red and orange - perhaps its my monitor, not sure. Once again, i'm finding the colours vary greatly depending on which computer i'm posting these photos on. I'm not posting this on my home laptop, so the colours and contrast seem a bit off.
Anyhow, please take a look at the WS for the black and white version, and i'll have many more to show from this amazing subject. thanks for looking!

Hello Craig,
I have to say that unusually I prefer the colour version; I find it more vibrant and in tune with the atmosphere of the place that we visited some thirteen years ago. The point of view is well chosen to show the magnificent façade to great effect and set it in context. I don't have any problems with the colours; clarity is excellent.

Hi Craig,
Impressive temple with an amazing architecture. Your POV is perfect to illustrate the atmosphere in front of the spectacular religious structure. Good shot.

Hi Craig,
The presence of the people has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details of the Jama Masjid Mosque. The good luminosity is making the colours to stand out. Have a nice day.

hello Craig, Thanks for your Giraffe note, indeed an incredible animal.
As for this pic. with the B&W WS, must admit I always prefere the colors version. A personal preferences.
The red/brown tiles and bricks with beautiful white-marble decorative-cladding and the beautiful domes - culminate wonderfully on the wide scene. people, as always gave extra sense of life to the whole.
Have a nice new day,

Hello Craig,
I may be mistaken, but I remember this as slightly more red, but it may be a matter of my computer. Anyway I prefer this to the b&w, which seems too dark for me. In a way I found this great mosque more interesting than the Taj Mahal, probably because I was only surrounded by locals who came here to pray, not swarms of tourists taking photos of themselves. It's a fantastic building, but what I mainly remember after 46 years is the burning hot ground.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hi Craig
Guess what, this was also my first port of call during my visit to India (in case you are wondering why there are no photos from India in my gallery - it was just a fleeting visit on the way to Bhutan). Fantastic place and your photo is so well executed, it's so difficult to do this building justice but you managed just that. The way you captured straight verticals and your composition of this to-big-for-lens structure are perfect.
As for the colours, I could write a book about problems with colours on TE. It looks a bit desaturated, but I'm looking at in on my netbook rather than my "photographic" monitor so shouldn't comment.
Best wishes

Hello Craig,
I'm always enthusiastic about colours. So also on this picture. I believe that the redbrown colour of the facade, the entrance gate and the minarets is so coherently linked to this mosque that I can not imagine it with less bold colours ...
Till I saw the picture in the workshop.
So according to my personal and humble opinion your picture in colour represents the mosque the most realistic. But the photo in black & white is the most amazing.
The Jama Masjid was the first site I visited upon my arrival in Delhi and at the end of my journey before I left I went back there. Also on my second trip to India (again with arrival and departure in India) I had to go back to this mosque. It's an amazing site.
Best regards, Paul

Ciao Craig
Saluti

Hello Craig,
Wow! What a gem. Your presentation of this mosque is fabulous, and I definitely prefer the color version. The blue sky and earthy colors are part of what I really like about this version. Of course the mosque itself is beautiful and impressive, and I like this sideways view, including the courtyard and all of the people walking around.

Great view of the square and the impressive mosque. The clarity is wonderful and I really like the combination of the blue sky and the brownish architecture, they go really well together.

Hi Craig
I like the POV you choose the angle side-ways to make us discover the majesty of the historic mosque by offering a very nice perspective line indeed and harmonic against the spotless blue sky. The patterns, the minarets and the domes all collaborate to draw the eye in, reinforced by the presence of mingling tiny people in between prayer times as they remind us very beautifully of this peaceful place.
Colour is for me Craig, after all India is About Colour and this shot is a very successful one in terms of colour balance and light management. It exudes nostalgia, what is missing here is the vibrancy of the muezzin's prayers call. Very exquisite capture of treasure trove, supported by your excellent narrative. Congrats!
Kind regards

Hello Craig,
The more I see of India, the more attractive it becomes!
It is a country full of amazing sights and interesting people!
I like your viewpoint, anchoring the f/g and then drawing us transfixed to the beauty of this mosque and its decorated facade! It is stunning! Only the size of the figures gives us the true idea of its magnitude.
Like many others, the colour version stands out to me!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Craig,
I have just seen the other picture from Jama Masjid and I prefer this one - more classic, with all the lines straight. Stunning composition, the colours are OK on my monitor. Black and white is nice but in colours it is better.
I have many pictures form India and specially from Jama Masjid too, but no time to look in archive, Still I show photos from Paris but next week I will have new pictures :).
Kind regrads Malgo

Hello Craig,
You were exceptionally lucky with the clear blue skies. It must have rained for a few days before your arrival. Both India & China are infamous for their severe air pollution. Good density levels and exposure. Tfs!

Hello, Craig!
Wonderful architecture and very nice perspective to show that, everything captured with perfect colors and sharpness! The people are a good scale to the image, showing how imposing the whole place must be! Beautiful job!

craig
you were in a higher pov than I had while there. this was the second attraction I visited while in india, at the end of that day I had a terrible discussion with my guide and the company gave me a much better. I liked the two versions and the lateral angle. you were lucky with the clean blue sky.
