Photographer's Note

Day I 4:12 pm - Altitude ~ 3 524 metres (11 562 feet)

Leh, Ladakh :

Leh is a green island, surrounded by mountains looking like waves, threatening to crash down on the city.

And there is that Light....that special Ladakhi Light.

A Light produced by the clouds passing by, above the mountains.

A Light producing an amazing permanent show.

But the most unexpected was that the clouds shadows were at the same scale than the mountains, producing an endless beautiful show.

Title & Words of my friend Stephane

This is a view from the terrace of my Guest House

Lamdon, which you can see written on the mountain slope, is in fact a School established by the Lamdon Society, a volunteer organization, in
1973.

Ladakh has a population of about 260,000 which is made up of a number of different ethnic groups. The most dominant group is Tibetans, followed by Mons and Dards.

Schools are well distributed throughout Ladakh, but 75% of them provide only primary education. 65% of the children attend school, but absenteeism of both students and teachers remains high.
