Photographer's Note
my second day in Amritsar..
this is the top of the "Golden Temple" (the roof),
-- i was still very naughty man that day, taking pictures inside the temple. Lol!
A Sikh devotee is reading the 'Book'..
PS. the shot is as it is, i increased the conrast in PP, no cropping.. i also used:
Polarizer+Cokin Gradual Filter+ tilt..
(The tilt is a natural, organic one here, - i mean not genetically modified! ;)

merhaba evren, the light here on this picture is such an extreme that it looks nearly unreal - excellent effect; still this is a religious place;
it is a rare example of how well polarizer and grad filters can work together;
have a nice day,

Now YOU'RE tilting too? WHen will this stop? Beautiful, no, georgeous Velvia tonalities here, Evren, the blue of the man's turban reflected in the sky...
Stroing stuff. Superb!

Hi Evren,
excellent shot - I like it all the more as its a shot that I could never take. The tilt is wonderful (especially as its organic - GM tilt should not be allowed). Framing is virtually perfect, but its the patch of bright cloud, and the vertical line it creates, that make it for me.
cheers, David

Excellent shot! Very original compostion, I love the tilt! The sky is great- the colours here, and the golden structure look as if they were computer generated images- I'm saying this is a plus, not a disadvantage:-) as it's a really interesting light and colour effect!

it is a good tilt, getting the dome in the whole shot... but is it necessary? I would know it is a dome from the smaller ones on the bottom... and I am not sure if the man's "action" is really good for a tilt. I suppose I think of tilt as something to add to the action or to the emotion of the photo, stirring it. I like the mood of the photo but it is calm, and for me the calm is disturbed by the tilt.
The blue turban looks great with all the gold, that is for sure. I like your photos from Punjab, thanks for posting them.

Well this is again a good application of the tilt, Evren, as it seems a very logical way to fit everything into the frame that needs to be inside. The light is quite special here, the golden spires shining in the sun make a very good detail, and it is good to have the guy sitting outside for context and ambience of this place. I like it.

This is just such an excellent picture book type image - it has all the qualities of a fine illustration - it is also a very modern rendition of that particular approach to Indian minuature painting in which a stylised building and gardens act as a backdrop to human actions and intentions.
In the UK there are two artists - the Singh Twins who have taken the tradition of Indian minuatures and nicely turned it on it's head - in a completely different way I feel this image succeeds in doing it through photography - this - for many reasons is one of my favourites of yours! Truly magical - a real gem!
http://www.kalakahani.co.uk/12874.html - for an interview my friend Jagdeep Ryatt did with the twins.

WOW! Good Job! It's so perfect that it doesn't even look realistic. I like the tilt a lot, and the thing I like the most is sky with the dome! The sikh devotee's calm position goes great with the 'serene chaos' created by the tilt. This is one of my favorite pics..haha. I disagree with don narayan a bit...i like the tilt a lot...I think it would be a bit boring and common without the tilt. Thanks for posting this!

This is really amaizing shot. That view looks like from very old tale. Amaizind blue sky with beautiful clouds on the corner, old gold and white building, wall, old man, even floor is great. It's a shame top of the building is cut. Your tilt here really working. good luck

Hi Evren
The use of polarise in this image is well executed. It did not "covered" the original color but improve the angle work here. The placement of the subjects are brilliantly composed and the present of the blue turban elderly man creates the atmospheric feeling.
Cool work, Evren.

love the angle. this is very much in line with my new experiment of trying to capture everything interesting in the frame without regard to the angle of the photo. well done! i think the sky ended up looking very surreal, with the extreme color gradation.

Çok harika. Detaylar ve renkler çok güzel.Kompozisyon harika.Renkler çok ama çok doygun.
Gük yüzüne gelince , ben aslında gökyüzü resimleri müptelasıyım. :) Aslında ilk bakışda gökyüzüne odaklandım. Fakat geneline bakınca ustaca çekilmiş bir fotoğraf olduğunu anladım.. Çerçeve seçimiz de çok güzel. Paylaşımınız için teşekkürler.
