Photographer's Note
I can feel the essence of one of the oldest city in India, Varanasi. The people still wear KAUPIN,The buffellows still bathe in Ganga and the old architectures..all give the essence of it.

PS: Tried a workshop, just wanted to see how a monochrome version will look.

You make the composition easy, but it isn´t. Very clear and geometrical space. Everything in order and so romantic and sugestive.
A very good job:

Hello Partha,
VARANASI! well portrayed in this picture. the sadhu, the bathing cattle, the architecture, everything that symbolizes it, is there in your picture.
Perfect moment captured with the diver.

Hi Partha,
Indeed a great place and you make something special from it. The cows bathing and the boy jumping form a great focal point.
Small but important detail for me are those beautiful tiny colours along the river from the houses and boats...very nice.

Hi Partha,
Tremendous shot this, I love those bulls taking a dip in the tea coloured water and this man on the left suspended in the air taking a reverse volley ...super shot..also interesting to see that during the month of August the water level is quite high compared to what it will be in the winter season...I think the colour of the water will also change with the onset of winter when it'll become more clear....

Hi Partha,
Even without the boy jumping it would have been a great take! So dynamic. The buffalos in the water, the old buildings, the wideness of the Ganga, the shoreline making half a circle through your composition, a boy on the shore. And as a bonus the well timed jump in the water! :-)

Hi Partha,
Definitely one of the most different shot of the Ghats of Varanasi. The timing - perfect.
Thanks for sharing.
With regards
Vijayabaskar.

I'm sure it's a magical place. Indeed a place for photographers. Hope to visit this place some day in the future. Amazing image with the cows taking their bath and that guy a second before the splash.

Hi Partha,
This is a nice shot with harmonious colours. What I find most amazing is the clarity and sharpness of all the details including the guy. Very well done.

Another excellent shot Partha!!! The man, to me, is the focal point, and you have perfectly timed his backflip to catch him in midair, yet still very "vertical". As the eye leaves the man, the entire composition shows itself piece by piece. I than see the colors of the ghats in the background, lined up along the shore of the Ganges, popping out in bright yellow, red, blue, white, green...this leads the eye right up to the foreground, with all the cows bathing in the water. Cows, where every sense I have says these should be people, not cows. I'm not in India though, I'm in the US. This than scatters the eye to look around, ask "what else am I missing?". I see the man by the steps, the boat just leaving the shore, the boats behind the cows, lined up for...the tourists?...maybe. Which brings me back to the place where the man is jumping from...looks like a slab of slate...interesting.
...which brings me to your equipment...one body and one lens. A photographer who does not need more. Just a thing to capture the moment, no matter how simple...it's the photographer that sees the photo, that captures the moment, that chooses the light. A true sign of greatness.
A truly great shot. Details everywhere. Perfect timing and great color. Varanasi...I have been dreaming of this place for years...for now though, I go to Africa and the Middle East. If I don't talk to you before than I will talk to you in/around May 08' (yes, it's a long trip). Keep on posting, your only getting better and better.
Great Work.

Excellent image of daily life in Varanasi. Different from the usual pilgrims bathing and Puja.
Well done,

Beautiful work Partha. The dynamicness in the picture is the important part. Like other shots you clicked at the right moment when the man is going for a jump to the water. Nice work overall.
