012 / A view of Khonoma village in Nagaland

One of the most historic and scenic villages in Nagaland, Khonoma is a place full of weirdly engrossing stories. At over 700 years old, its tale stretches from spirit infested forests to eco-conscious green village by way of the severed heads of British troops and the missionary inspired Nagamese Gospel Rock. A walk around the village will reveal eerie monoliths, quaint Naga houses, trophy animal heads, innumerable churches, endless rice terraces, water wheels, and the odd villager mimicking animal sounds while out on a hunt. They simply dont make places like this anymore.
