Photographer's Note
Devotees at a tiny Krishna temple have fasted and prepared for this special day. They are dressed in saffron colored cloth, and in a trance. They marched down the street past the home of my freind to the temple. Along the way, pots of clear or saffron colored water drenched them. One devotee passed out in front of me, and was caught before he hit the ground, and carried off. The small parade was mostly men, and practically ran through streets to the temple, (all Indian parades move fast). Inside one devotee handed out a white poweder for tikas on foreheads. A huge flame in a small pot was passed around, with people catching the flame and touching their heads to purify and bless. A small band played and sang devotional songs, drummers beat frantically, then all was quiet and done for the time being. That night, classical singing was presented at the temple.
