Photographer's Note
In the slums the Children have to sleep wherever they can make space for the night. The houses are very small with only one room, where five to six people live on an average. One room serves the purpose of a living, dining, kitchen, bedroom..

That must not be comfortable but they seem to sleep well.
Very nice dailylife scene.

Very sad to see that, but it is the fact. Very well captured, a photo says a million words, this make me think about them when I am in my comfy bed and how lucky I am. Thanks for posting.

Hi Ashit - it is good to see a picture from Ahmedabad where I have met so many wonderful people and where I was looked after so well following a very serious and life threatening illness. I have a connection always because of this. I have seen and shared life at all levels in the city and this picture fills me with both joy and sadness - one night crowded into a family house of one room with all of their children and visitors we sang the whole evening through and this must be one of the most memorable moments of my life. They shared everything - outside was a malignant cesspit and the father suffered a chronic chest problem but there was such dignity and love between people. Your picture brings back so much. It is a very simple and poignant reminder of how adaptable and how fragile human beings are - one of those children in that room that night visited us here in England a few years ago - she is bringing something very new to her family now. I know well the work of Sarjan in Ahmedabad with street, railway and working children in the city.
It is a beautiful picture - a picture of everyday life in it's unmasked reality. Thankyou for sharing this.

This image is beautiful and sad at the same time. It makes me feel concerned for this child, left so vulnerable asleep in the street.

I don't think I can say anything that the others haven't said already about this photo. It's now one of my favorites.

Fine photo. I also can sleep in any circumstances, especially in loud noise...
