Photographer's Note
This picture was taken in the Indian Hill station of Khandala in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra. It is quite possible that these three friends in their pristine dhotis, kurtas and caps meet here everyday outside the temple to talk , read the paper and discuss the news as well as analyse and comment.
It conveys a slice not just of their life but that of numerous middle class villagers who are educated. They are sitting on the ground in a pose most Indians urban, rural rich or poor can very comfortably sit in. A way that shows the deep connection the Earth itself. I like this picture for its many elements and hope others enjoy it too. Lastly the design bordering the roof of the temple looks strangely like fleur de lis.
