Cooking for the poor, a photo from Rajasthan, West

Photographer's Note

Sikh women preparing a free lunch for the poor. The Sikh religion is very kind to the poor. Sikhs set up kitchens and feed anyone who comes by. I was walking with an American woman, and her two adopted Indian children, when these women saw us. They invited us in. They let me take many pictures of them threshing grain, cooking, praying, and their hospital. Here they are cleaning vegetables to make a delicious curry. The flat dry chapati bread is used to scoop up the morsels and sauce of the curry. We were given chai, (delicious Indian milk tea) and lunch. They are truly good women. The Sikh hospital is free for anyone. They have simple machinary, but good hearts. (Xrays are read by clothes pinning them to a screen door in the sun).

I would consider it an action shot among your photo's. ;-)

Very interesting daily life scene. I can't imagine living in a community so narrowly packed, but that's only because I'm born here in germany. Would probably different, if I lived in India.

tha's what I missed for some time now, naan ... Indian breath like pancakes. Nice family scene with warm colors. Indeed you don't need a frame here.

Hello Gloria:

Amazing note and exelente picture I like it the colorfull, the view, even the smell, India is one of my priiorityes in my trips I hope I can do it some day. I love the food and talking about it I thougth this was a Mexican Tortilla looks very very similar and rigth now Im hungry now Lol. Im sure there are many good people in this world and i wish we can notice more this than the bed news and the bed thinsg in this world.
