Meghawal Lady in shades of Red, a photo from Gujarat, West

Photographer's Note

Bhirindiyara � A small otherwise non descript place in Guajarat, which attracts flocks of flamingoes in the winter in the shallow lakes which form from the rains

In order to go to the villages in Rann of Kutch, one has to take permits from the permit office located in Bhirindiyara. During winter, the queue of tourists swells up added to the ornithologists & bird watchers.

This Meghawal lady was applying cow dung on the walls of a mud building adjacent to the Permit Office. Notice the big golden nose ring she𠏋 wearing!

beautiful portrait of this old lady and her nice crafted scarf.
She seems either focused on something or sad as her eyes and mind seem not to be there.

I think you went well for a tight composition here as the contrasts of light were very high judging by the few things, aside her, we can see.

As something you could have worked out I note here some reddish tones on her face which you could have tried to avoid.

This is a fine portrait with stunning colours. The light was obviously difficult and must have necessitated a careful PP, the end result of which is amazing. Every detail of the woman's face is perfectly captured.
By the way, why the need of a permit? Is it due to the proximity of border areas?

The image is very sharp and we can see perfectly the wrinkles on the face of this old lady, as well as the beautiful drawings of her clothes.

This is a wonderful portrait, so close, so well-composed. You're very brave getting so close, I would be scared that the lady would tell me to get lost.

This is impressive portrait as she looks in thought full of feeling and does convey a depth of emotion with her intense expression which is so apparent. Excellent focus on the warm facial features plus her shiny nose ring sure to invite viewers to explore and i like the catch lights on her eyes too, But i love her over powering red head cover that trigger our sense. What an achievement here!. But my only niggle is that, the background lighting I feel is a bit too harsh to my liking, but thats only my opinion.
