Photographer's Note

This was taken on our trip to Uttaranchal in the year 2003. We took the metergauge train from Lucknow to Tanakpur and then hired a car from there for the whole trip. Our first destination was Pithorahgarh and on the way we visited many places like Shyamlataal, Lohaghat, Babru, Champawat. All the places are beautiful on their own characteristic beauties! This photograph was taken at Shyamlataal, our first halt during the long journey from Tanakpur to Pithoragarh. "Taal" or "Taalao" means lake or large pond. The lake, 1500 mt from sea level and situated at a distance of 132 km from Pithorahgarh , is a very famous one. Swami Vivekananda Ashram is situated on the banks of the lake.
We found these kids playing on the banks of the lake. The kid standing in the compo seems to us as the leader of the group and always giving instructions and directions to his friends.
This photo was a coloured one and I just desaturate it just for an experiment. Hope you will like it.
