Photographer's Note

Le fort d'Agra est rouge.
Rouge comme une prison dor嶪.
Le vieil empereur Moghol Shah Jahan y finira ses jours.
Enferm� par son fils assoiff� de pouvoir.
Il restera 8 ans.
8 ans � pleurer sa femme ador嶪. Celle � qui il avait construit le temple de l'amour. Le fameux Taj Mahal.
Celle qu'il continuera de regarder reposer dans son mausol嶪.
A travers les fen皻res du fort rouge, d'abord, on ne voit rien.
Puis doucement, le Taj se l鋦e dans la brume du matin.
Comme le vieux Shan, on pleure l'amour perdu.

The fort of Agra is red.
Red like a gilded prison.
The old emperor Moghol Shah Jahan will finish his days there.
Locked up by his son thirsty of being able.
He will remain 8 years.
8 years to cry his adored wife.
For her, he had built the temple of the love, the famous Taj Mahal.
For her, he will continue to look at resting in its mausoleum.
With through the windows of the strong red, initially, one sees nothing.

Wonderful perspective and composition with all these straight lines leading the eye towards the tower. The superb early morning light brings out the ornate details on the facade of the building and the nice warm tones. The foggy conditions add some mystique to the composition. Beau travail!

Hey Bertrand,

I think you've captured the scene quite nicely. The lines are nice and add an interesting effect.

Technically, the picture is great. Sharp, crisp and clear. Maybe it could use a bit more saturation to bring out the 'red' in the red fort!

Qu'il est beau ce fort, une oeuvre d'art au niveau architecturale, ici ce n'est qu'une infime partie, mais elle montre oh combien le travail est minutieux....comme ton cadrage d'ailleurs, superbe perspective qui fini dans une espece de brume matinale...ca laisse reveur !

Hi Bertrand !
Thanks for re-emphasising the point that Taj is not the only photogenic architecture in Agra. Early winter mornings in North India has a particular colour and hue to them which has been fully utilised in this image. Nice contrast on the fort walls with residual early morning mist seen in the BG.

Bonjour Bertrand, encore une fois je ne trouve pas de mots except� une onomatop嶪 du type "waooou" ! Ta persective n'a absolument rien a envier aux perspectives japonaises de jean yves et celle ci est exceptionnelle.
La note est 幦ouvante, pleine de po廥ie, c'est du grand art :)

So beautiful!
The perspective, for sure, but also the colors and the sharnesss. The lower part of the tower looks like a reflection of the upper part, and this makes me feel like there is a lake in the lower part of the image.
Light is very well treated, aswell, and so is the sharpness.

Cette architecture est superbe et la perspective la met bien en valeur. Pour une prison c'est assez convenable. Les tons rouges apportent une note joyeuse au b漮iment. Dommage que tu n'es pas eu un meilleur ciel la photo serait parfaite.

Apr鋊 ta s廨ie minimaliste, on pourrait qualifier cette image de "maximaliste". En effet elle incite aux superlatifs par plusieurs aspects. Premi鋨ement, et c'est ce qui me frappe en premier ici, la perspective sur le mur du fort est superbe et tr鋊 dynamisante pour la compo. Ensuite, la profondeur et la lumi鋨e naturelle optimalement g廨嶪s permettent un degr� de d彋ail impressionnant sur l'architecture almbiqu嶪 de ce mur.
Enfin, la pr廥ence de la brume � l'arri鋨e plan donne une atmosph鋨e un peu myst廨ieuse, presque palpable � l'ensemble.
Superbe travail, comme souvent !

Hello Bertrand, this is a beautiful shot of the Moghul architecture. It is a brilliant perspective and you have used the misty effect well. In the foreground we see rich colours and a wealth of detail but as the eye moves back the colours fade and we get a more general view of the building. The strong diagonals make for good leading lines. Great early light too.

Salut Bertrand. Je me souviens encore bien de ce fameux fort. Tu l'as pris ici d'un tr鋊 beau pdv. Le brouillard dans l'arri鋨e-plan est un vrai atout. Tr鋊 soign�, bien 廦uilibr� et je suis content de voir que je ne suis pas le seul de le trouver si beau.

Cela me rappelle ma premi鋨e visite en Inde et ma d嶰ouverte du Red Fort, seul avec des petits singes, sous une pluis torrentielle. Une ambiance que je n'oublie pas, tu le constates... J'ai ador� cet endroit et cette vue sur le fleuv et le taj et tu m'y ram鋝es si joliment. Ta lumi鋨e est g幯iale et le b漮iment gagne, du coup, encore en majest�. I tried this very shot at Junagarh Fort but....I shall try again at some other place. This shot of yours gives me inspiration to go for better photography. Of course its a Red Perspective.

A truly spectacular photo, and I am very happy to join the chorus of its admirers. The vantage point that you have chosen is flawless, demonstrating perfect one-point perspective. The orthogonals/lines of perspective converge at one vanishing point on the horizon. The exposure has high defintion and reveals the exquisite workmanship. Finally, the note is first class, engaging and endearing � but also very sad. The son who impisoned the father is doomed to to eternity as an ingrate, while the mother and father live on symbolic of unending love.

La photo est "dramatique" (dans le sens anglais) et le texte est vraiment inspir�. J'aime le fait que tu le traduises � chaque fois, et comme tu l'as remarqu�, je ne suis pas la seule � l'app嶰ier...
Le point de vue est parfait ; avec une telle perspective, j'ai d'abord cru qu'on 彋ait � Gwalior...

I was browsing some theme on India when this one "called for me". Curiously, I shot a very similar pov 10 years before this one. Well, no matter how good mine is, to be honest, it lacks the enchantment of the haze and what looks like the early morning light of this one. It's no big surprise that it got so many green smiles, as it is lovely.

Un plus pour la note qui est agr嶧ble � lire. Pour la photo, attention � la surexposition, qui dans ce cas attire le regard, et pas l� ou les lignes de fuites le sugg鋨ent. Pour le point de vue, je suis dubitatif, dans le sens ou c'est un cadrage d嶴� vu � plusieurs reprises. Il aurait 彋� interressant d'apporter un autre regard. Pour le post-traitement, rien � dire, BdB & nettet� au rendez-vous. Merci du partage ++

Hi Bertrand, A remarkable POV of this huge red structure. The notes describe well the anguish of the man incarcerated there. Difficult bright conditions as so often faced in the tropical areas. TFS. Murray.

En r廧onse � Julien qui critique peu, je ne note pas de surexposition ici.
C'est juste la lumi鋨e diffus嶪 par la brume, l'effet est normal lorsqu'on approche notre regard en direction du soleil.
Une sous exposition de l'image aurait entrain� un fort assombrissement de la partie gauche.
Ceci dit je note surtout une int廨essante perspective lat廨ale qui guide le regard vers la lumi鋨e.
