Photographer's Note
Inspired by the shot of Keriber I am uploading this shot from varanasi. The shot was taken at Monikornica Ghat. We are on the boat and take this shot of the Burrning ghat. Varanasi is an ancient city where You can have a nice view all activities from life to death of human being.

Certainly plenty of atmosphere in this shot, Partha, which is a great capture of daily life along this part of the river. Excellent technical quality too. Cheers . . . David

Great shot! I find this to be well laid out, with the river and the piles of wood in the foreground, the people involved in the ceremony in the middle and then the buildings in behind them, like at a theatre. I saw the shot from Keribar so this is a very intersting supplement to that. Thanks for sharing!

Hello Partha,
Although I was expecting some disapproving comments, I am a bit amazed to see that you as an Indian were inspired and that my posting has given the momentum to send this addition to mine. Actually my picture was taken 3 years ago, and I waited until today, when I rediscovered it in my big archive. Now your picture is quite clear because taken in full daylight, and I think I can see the balcony where I was posted right in the middle. Thanks to your critique I also remembered the name of this ghat.
Thanks for supporting me , but wehave taken the risk of certainly receiving negative comments.
Friendly regards - Izzet

Hi Parth a,
My memory of Manikarnika ghat is so different from this one. I am surprised by the presence of the new buildings there. I remember from 40 years ago, it was a searingly lonely place, river and sky and large horizon. It is a pity to note they have chosen to build there.

Nice work Partha, with all those dark smoke coming out of the pier, the boat laden with burning wood. Wood have been nice to some fire though.
Best Wishes

Haven't seen too many pictures of burning ghats Partha..there seems to be an overall brownish tone in the picture, the river, the buildings & the logs. Amazing shot, perhaps in my limited knowledge might look well in B&W as well, stark as the scene is.

Hi Partha,
I like your Varanasi shot, it looks always different by many photos I have seen yet. I like colours here and the tints of beige with touches of soft light.
Best regads,
Stanislav
