Balinese dances obey very specific rules. The dancers always keep their lips closed. The eye movements were very important, as the movements and positions of hands and fingers.
The music that accompanies the Balinese dances are also unique to the island. It is performed by an orchestra called gamelan. It is mainly composed of percussion instruments like gongs or metallophones, and supplemented by flutes.
The Legong dance is most commonly performed by very young girls.
Precise movements of Balinese dance requires a long and difficult learning. The complex movements of hands and eyes require perfect coordination.
In addition to the magnificent costumes, dances legong to use accessories like fans or flowers that are dancing in the little baskets of woven bamboo ....
