Photographer's Note

In Indonesia (and many in many other countries), especially in the villages, children take bath just outside the house with simple 'bath tub' :), and simple/traditional water pump.

This one in Penglipuran village, Bali. still very traditional village, I saw this moment, and reminded me of my childhood :)

Beautiful light Cessy - I love the look on the child's face and the womans shadow is very interesting too. I would have been tempted to shift the whole composition left to get a more central triangular image (I think) - nice tonal range.

This is great. I really like the shadows and the black and white tones really make this image pop. The interaction between the mother, the baby and the viewer is just splendid. Excellent photography.

the kind of scene i like to take.
maybe the conversion in B&W is a bit grey

the story was just the same in my childhood for me.in this pic I liked the light and the shadows.the eyetouch of the child is very sympathetic;what I did not like in the pic was the cropping of the down part of the compo,I would love to see a bit more of her feet and the measures of the bath tube.

All the developing countries are pretty much alike ... I grew up in India and this is how they used to bathe me too ... infact I have my brother's photo when he was kid and it is so much similar to the one you have posted here .... of course, yours one is much more sharper though

Hehe, what I think of this photo is already written on the top bucket!
I think your choice of B&W and your excellent timing to capture the mood are the key of the success for me in this picture.
Wondefull light, I like the shade of the woman.
