Photographer's Note

The traditional kitchen of balinese, that you can still find in the villages. The air circulation is so bad, no window, except door which is always open to any visitors, which signify their openess.

we came to this village, and they invite us to look around, to see their house, sit, talk and laugh with them.

because of poor lighting, I used ISO 400 and slow speed

Another wonderful shot from Bali. Nice scene you captured here. The ceiling looks extremely low. Very good POV. The light was managed very well here.

Hi Cessy, A really down to the earth daily life shot to show the way of cooking people have been in that way for at least hundreds years. A good detailed capture of the showing the smoke and the steam out from the oven and the pot. It looks that the entire kitchen is colored with the cumulative smoke. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Cessy. A nice follow-up in the series. At first I was thinking I would have done this b/w but on second thought I wouldn't want to sacrifice the colors of the ladies dress. Good note too. Nice shot Cessy.

Nice and well framed scene of this traditional Balinese lifestyle, from what I see you exposed just right to preserve also background details, I'd say you were a bit on the risky side with 1/30s, you could have pushed the ISO even a bit more to 800, but It came well that way so let's :-))) !

This scene brings back wonderful memories of the kindness and hospitality of the Indonesian people when I visited the country a few years ago. Given the low light, the exposure is well managed and the scene really conveys the everyday life of these people.

A superb capture of this woman at work. I love the soft tones and hues here and how the colours blend together. Good dynamism between the fire in the stove and the steam from the pot. The humble surroundings look very traditional. An illuminating look at village life. This is a first rate contribution. Regards
