Photographer's Note
This 100-foot monument is found in Central Jakarta. The imposing and fearsome figure is part of a series of monuments erected by the Soekarno regime. The man is supposed to represent the strength, ferocity, and triumph of the comman man. There is some interesting history behind the subtle socialist undertones of many of the Soekarno monuments, which I haven't been able to sort out yet.

It's a very nice composition, but it needs more value contrast. Try either adjusting the levels or, even better capture the rgb canels into three separate layers. Then you can erase the sections from one layuer or the other to create a more contrasty image without sacrificing sections of tonality. Just a suggestion.

i'm going to disagree with gravatar! :)
i think the photo is natural as it is. and the contrast between the sculpture and the sky works well. black and white is a nice choice for this composition, but if the sky was blue (ie a nice day) then a colour photo would have been interesting too.
the detail in the sculpture is great and i worry that you'd lose some definition by increasing the contrast.
very nice framing also. great job. keep shooting!
