Photographer's Note
This was taken when I was climbing Mount Fuji in extremely bad weather. There was no visibilty at the summit but at least I managed to make it to the top once in my life.
I have used contrast masking. I have also used neat image quite heavily to accentuate the feeling of a painting.

Beautiful moving work of art Martin. I thought it was a photo of a painting. The splashes of orange against the grey and the destruction of detail emphasize the spiritual nature of the climb against the physical disomfort of the day. Thank you for sharing it with us.

It really does look like a painting : it has the tones and brush moves of french naturalist paintings of the XIXth century.
However I would really like to see the original pic, just to check whether photo medium has a point of view that painting could not imitate (or the reverse...).

This is very effective. Certainly it goes more towards the surrealistic than to the photojournalistic side of things, but that only makes it more interesting for me. This certainly has a timeless feel to it. Very well done.

Very special image,it has a feel of the pointillistic about it, Seurat springs immediately to mind, and just looking at the date taken, 1966, that's got to be the oldest on TE! excellent.

I like this a lot. The painterly quality pushes the limits of photography, but I don't mind. Whether something is pushed 10% or 90%, we're still pushing it. This blurrs the lines between photography and digital art quite nicely. I love blurry genres!

I like it - the hat and the wild forces of nature - it captures a feeling of adventure

Very nice "painting". When i see it, i think about Caspar David Friedrich. A XIX° atmosphere here. Thank you.

wow.. it does come across like a beautiful painting.. at first glance, it reminded me of a monet painting with a woman dressed exactly like this-only difference was that it was windy and not misty.. its beautiful!

Your photo shopping worked very well for this picture. Nice work! But because this is a photo site and not about how well certain filters work for us, I only award you 1 point for this.
Kind regards,
Hans

Hi Martin,
really a particular choice and good idea... to transform this shot (also good for composition and colors) in a real paint!!! It reminds me the tachnique of the painters called "Macchiaioli"...
Well done,
Chiara
P.S.
Your gallery is a real surprise!!! :-))
