Cloud detail is great, maybe explaining the lack of people? There is also a sense of drama with the rough waves and ribs in the sand. Great composition.

Simple but nice
The idea is good
What about simplify the pic with BW visualization?
If you put the horizon according to rule of third composition IMO the pic will look less static
