Photographer's Note

November 15 is a special day in Japan for children of ages 7, 5 and 3. They get dressed up in traditional clothing and are taken to shrines to pray for good life, health and all the usual things. However, as it's a family outing, the visits to the shrine usually takes place on a weekend before the 15th.

This 7 year old girl was feeding popcorn to the pigeons and herself at the main shrine in Utsunomiya.

Lovely composed portrait shot.
The contrast between the dull grey pigeons and the brightly coloured pretty young girl are quite striking.

a poetic image with a very informative note. she is really cute in her outfit and in her attitude towards the pigeons. as said above, i like the contrast between the grey pigeons, the neutral color of the ground, and the lively colorful dress. good job!
