I have noticed that there are different ways to stack the rice after harvest. Maybe the stacking method varies depending on the town/region. Does anyone know if this is so?

Interesting picture. I never seen people doing it that way in the countries I travelled to. I like the brownish rope here.

Excellent picture. I like the composition, the colors, and the informations we've get in your picture. I have no clue about your question, sorry... But, good work! Did you post-processed the picture? The colors are like kind of fadded. Some grays in the yellow, in the foreground green... Did you voluntary desatured it a little? no matter, I like it like that... this is soft.

I do like the juxtaposition of patterns you composed really well. The green tones give the picture a special mood and the way they are mixed enhances the perspective.

That's a great shot made and quite a tricky question you raised.

Very strong composition here, and that brown rope is such a nice detail. To my slightly colorblind eyes, it stands out very brightly.

It looks as though this is not the rice per se, but the stalks after the harvest. Perhaps how they stack it depends on its use? The bundles to me look as if they will be used as a part of a roof?

Interesting lines in this shot as they all lead my eyes towards the man. Sharpness is a bit off, but since we're pretty far away to see many details that does not bother me so much. As for methods of stacking rice...not really sure about it, but it looks way different than what they do in China.

Yes, in a way. After harvesting, its winnowing. This is where the rice is separated from its stalk. The stacking order or style depends on how the bunch is carried to the winoowing machine. Hugh bunch is usually transported by machine. Smaller bunch or stacks, carried by the farmer on a "shouldering" pole.

Coming from a padi growing country, I would have taken a landscape shot of the farmer with the padi fields in blur, to highlight/enhance the stacks.

Very nice photo Adam! Yes, there are many different ways. Here in the Philippines, after harvest, farmers stack them up in a single pile for next activity, which is threshing (separating the grains from the stems). One of these days I'll try to capture a scene. Good work!

Superb composition! Without that reddish thread I'd cropped the image, but as there it is, everything is OK. Talking about 'cropping' I have never seen rice being harvested, I wish I could go to Far East sometime...
