Photographer's Note
Arriving at the top for the sunrise is traditional for climbers in Japan. Everyone piles up on the easterrn lip of the crater to view the sunrise. A much less appreciated view of the fuji sunrise is the subject of this photo. Looking to the west made me wonder what it must be like to literally live in the shaddow of the imposing, majestic volcano.

Thanks for the less common view of sunrise over Mt Fuji. Too bad about the haze down below, but that's virtually unavoidable. (I was lucky the day I climbed Mt Fuji this year - crystal clear weather. But it was a different Mt Fuji, a third as high ;-})
