Khmu woman and child, a photo from Louangnamtha, North

Photographer's Note

A village we visited when on a survey with a few friends and guides, trying to find new places to bring tourists to on a trek in the hills. This village lies about 4 hours trekking uphill from Ban Kongkham. Ban Khonkham itself is about 8 hours by boat downriver from Luang Namtha.
When we arrived in Ban Khoup, we were told they had never had foreigners visit their village. The peopel were very hospitable, and after a brief initial shyness, very happy to be photographed. This woman especially really enjoyed it, since she could see her picture later on the back of my camera.
All villagers I photograph here receive a copy of their photo a few weeks or months later.

zonder het te weten kom ik toch weer bij je terecht (de namen en punten staan uit bij de openingsgalerie).
Ik vindt dit echt een mooie foto, de blijdschap in haar ogen, de gereserveerdheid bij de kleine . . .
technisch mooi bewerkt,lekker simpel zonder frame en een mooie toelichting :)
sterkte met je werk, ik hoop dat alles goed gaat.

Precious portrait of the woman and child in the beautiful greens background.
It is very good for villagers to get a copy of their photo.
Traveling around India, I used a portable printer that was able to print directly from the camera.
