Photographer's Note
Originally, this ancient temple was built in 1565 by King Sayasetthathirath to house the Emerald Buddha 1565-1779 (lost to the Siamese in 1828) as his personal place of worship. It was later reconstructed in 1936. For this reason and unlike other temples in Laos, monks have not taken up residence here.
During the 1970’s the temple was converted from a place of worship into museum and now houses the finest national collection of Buddhist sculptures and artifacts.

Hello Mics,
Beautiful image of my homeland. I'm contemplating to see if I want to return again next year to the Northern part of Loas. It was so many years ago when I was there, I still used mostly old film camera. Even with the cloudy sky, you made a very lovely shot of this place, it does looks like a temple than a museum. Love the POV with teh brick road leading in and few people give the sense of scale and liveliness.
My apology, I'm not here much lately.
You may find me here sometimes, it is less busy.

Dear Michelle, I was happy to read your critique. That ancient temple was turned into a museum, the gardens are well maintained with hedges of pink flowers, excellent pov

Hi, Mics,
I was in Laos three years ago, but I did not visit Vientiane. This is poor but very nice country with a lot of interesting places, the temples and wonderful nature.
Greetings from Russia!
