Photographer's Note
Gunung Ledang (Mount Ophir).
Hello to all TE members. As promised, I’m posting the “Nature in Macro” photo series, which was shot at Gunung Ledang in Johor on the 20th of March to 22nd of March. So, before I start with the image, allow me to put in some introduction about this magnificent Gunung Ledang.
Introduction:
Gunung Ledang, fondly known as Mount Ophir, is commonly known to the locals for its mystical character and as a good “break-away” hill resort.
The mountain charmed tourist with its natural beauty of challenging mountain trails, icy waterfalls, cascades, diverse birdlife, flora and fauna. The mountain plateau-like summit peaks at 1,276m above sea level and offers a panoramic view of the Straits of Malacca and the Sumatra coastline on a clear day. Hence, this is an excellent place for every shutterbug from around the corner of the world.
The “mystical” awe-inspiring legends and folklore have made many visitors to “encounter” this experience here. Tales of supernatural encounter and visions of the legendary Fairy Princess, known as Puteri Gunung Ledang in Malay, are not infrequent among believers of the “twilight zone”.
Well, I need to stop here awhile and allow me to continue the fairy tales of this Puteri Gunung Ledang on the next post.
Okay, this is one common mountain spider, which I do not know its scientific name. So, friends of TE, if you come across of the name of this spider, please do let me know. It was hiding somewhere around the leaves when I spotted it and having the partial hiding from the leave, it’s time to release the multiple exposure shot at once to get a better result. Yeah, it does.
When taking macro shot, it is advisable to use the multiple exposure menus, where once the release of the shutter, multi exposure is made. This is where, while the subject is still “posing” and that to reduce the chance of blurriness.
Merchanics:
Exposure Program – manual
Speed Value – 1/30s
Aperture Value – f/5.6
Focal Length – 90mm
So, folks, enjoy this cool macro shot and I will be posting the next image next week.
Cheers to all and good day.
Btw, I’m putting up every single image of this Macro to be dedicated to fellows of TE, whom have given me the opportunity to showcase and shares the wonders of Malaysian diversify cultural, traditions and the beauty of nature. Here it goes. This is for you, Chris Jules.
Cheers

Eric, good work and I really love the main object's color against the green. You also did good on the main object with nice detail. However I wish the bug take more space and current the background takes a little too much space.

Ola Eric!!
Excelente plano de enquadramento, muito técnico e sensível, criando uma sensação fantástica da planta com o inseto.

Cool Macro!...
The DOF with such a high focal length is breadth taking.
A lesson for all novices like me.
Cheers,
Prem.

Hi Eric; good focus and background. Original position to shoot the spider. And what a note again...;-)

Hmmm...1/30s. You must have ice or steel nerve to handhold and shoot something from under a leave/branch. And the background is pretty impressive to envelop your mountain spider. But I'm going to be nasty with you Eric for not getting the whole spider in. In wildlife photography, the "face" and especially the eyes of your subject, is still the most important element with the body coming second. It is great Eric that you are becoming the regular contributor, showcasing Malaysia beside me. Keep it up my friend.

Eric I see you have jumped into the macro world. This one is really nice with the soft background. In fact I think I love this one a little more than your latest posting! Very nice color and details rendered!

Selamat Pagi Eric,
I prefer this one to you #02 because here there is no interfering element. The bokeh is good and I like how the very strong green dominant is broken by the appearing mountain spider (don't know the latin stuff either...).
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hi Eric,
I have not ventured into macro yet but believed there is a whole lot of exciting world there. In term of composition I would prefer this one though I would also love to see a bit more of the spider. The DOF is great and the green very refreshing and attractive. Well done!! Have an exciting day.
