Photographer's Note
That is a cloudy day at Inle Lake. I was guiding to Luko and his family. We went to Ngaphechaung Monastery, well known as jumping cat monastery in toursit industry. Luko lent me his Cannon 20D to try some shoots of jumping cats, ofcourse, he'd already set up his camera manuals. All I have to do is just click click, the most fastasting moment I had with a good camera, since then i m dreaming to have such one. He has sent this pic to me with email, already made some changes in photoshop. so ur comments to me will be just cliking time. thanks alot to look at this pic.
Are buddhist monks in Myanmar allowed to do cats jumping?? It is a good question. Well they have 227 regulations but doing cats jumping is not in the list.

So welcome to TE, Ye!
Well done for your decisive moment, cannot be a more leaping cat than this one...
Hope you'll post many shots taken in Myanmar in the future. One nice thing in Trekearth is the comparison of how foreigners and locals see the same country...

Well captured and amusing shot. That's a well trained cat - I love the way you've captured it in mid air.

hello Ye
amazing shot and very good timing
one thing i like much here, thaht the monk dont look
at the cat jumping, make the pics and the action so natural and easy.
but i guess its realy not easy to do this. i had to make a movie one day with cat, i remember how it was difficult just to move the cat from
a place to another place.
here a beautifull first post.
welcome to TE
regards

I finally saw the jumping cats for the first time this past trip. It's an amusing touristic attraction, the cats are funny, exactly as in your shot, aloof as cats always are, and not a bit recalcitrant (who would not, being asked to jump every 30 minutes or so!, ahaha), this is actually what amused me, also the talk of the monk to the burmese visitors, respectful, but waiting for the cats to jump afterwards. All very cute, but I was actually more impressed by the statuary in the monastery, very impressive and ancient.
But hey, i am no snob, i had to take my pix of the jumping cats too. yours is better, you caught an excellent form from that jumping cat.
I hope, like LUKO implies, that we will see more from you. Welcome!

Brilliant capture, Ye, out of this world. The jumping cat on top, the look of pride and bemusement on the monk's face, the gorgeous, dark, colors, all says: this is a GREAT picture.
Congratulations!

Hello Ye, so good to see you here! This is a nice photo, I hope you post some more.
I hope to see you in Myanmar again next year. Thiha (from Thha Studio) says he's leading a group to Mrouk-U, and I'll join him if I can. I'll contact you through the office in Pansodan and we can do something when the Mrauk-U trip is over.
Philip.

I like this monk very much, but I did not manage to take such a great picture as you did. The composition and framing are good and climate of the show is preserved. Very well done.
