Photographer's Note
Kyaing Tone (Keng Tung) is the capital Eastern Shan State, can also called Golden Triangle area. The town is very charming, a small plane surrounded by very high mountains. The town itslef is formed by the enlarging villages, so that, the town plan is not order. The streets are small with up and down of the hills. Old traditional houses are bulit of wood and clay tile roofs, forming black color because of the mosses of many rainy seasons. The people are so kind and simple. Here the shan noodle soup is the best in Myannmar. The market is big and can get all the goods coming from China and Thailand. You can also visit and hike to many trible villages, some of them are still living like in the 19th Century with traditional costumes and some are animist. Last of all the girls in Kyhaing Tone is more beautiful, all these factors make this town my number one favourite in Myanmar.
We drive about 2 hours to Mai Lar (to China Border direction). We stop on highway and hike up to Wan Nyat Village for one hour. There Loi people are living. Before we arrive to the village, we saw a very beautiful monastery which is very similar to those in Laos. (I will upload later). Loi people are said to be the first migrant people to the city of Kengtung but later they were attacked by Tai Khun (one of the Shan Tribes) so they have to move up to the mountains. They are still living in the long houses with all the families. We visited to the room of Abbot and inside is very dark. But there is a hole on the roof and the sun come in and one young novice is sitting just under the sun rays and he is gayzing to one of my (white)clients. The right face and the sholder is direct under the sun and burned. I can't even correct with PS.

Salut
Une bien belle photo à mon gout! tres belle lumière qui ajoute un côté mystique à cette photo.
Dommage pour la partie un peu surexposée au centre de l'image.
Beau cliché.
Bye

Hi Ye, How's life? and what about these balloons festival shots ;) ...
Nice low key, unfortunately the scan process produced a hot spot on the monk's robe. As I guess this is neg, I'm sure there's a way to recover the burnt out part : I would recommend using two scans, one set like it is now for the background, the other one set for the brightest areas of the print (darkest part of the neg).
then you could merge the two versions using layers in photoshop : you should therefore have a perfectly detailed of your image.
I think it's worth it.
I suspect the last reason you mention is probably the MAIN why you like Keng Tung so much... ;D ...

a nice capture, too bad for the obvious, but look on the bright side, a great exercise in potoshop! i liked kentung a lot, one of the least touristy places in myanmar. unfortunately i had to leave early, my guide turned out to be a disaster :-(
