Photographer's Note

Queen Vrisha Bhanu of Tikamgarh built the janaki temple in 1910. In 1657, a golden statue of the Goddess Sita was found where the temple was built centuries after. Sita is said to have lived there. The legend said it that the janaki mandir was built on the holy site where the sannyasi Shurkishordas, an ascetic, had found the images of Sita. This is a view of the visitors with a gate of the temple in the background, taken on a foggy day.
