Photographer's Note

A second shot of the Pasig River looking almost the opposite direction to the previous shot and taken a few minutes before. In this direction there was no sunshine and the mood was quite different.

The Pasig River connects the very large lake Laguna de Bay to Manila Bay and is only 25km long. Due to the rapid expansion of Manila over the past few decades and poor planning, the river is now considered dead, with fish and other aquatic fauna simply not able to deal with high levels of pollution found in the system. As you can see, construction is still going on along its shoreline, though there is now a government organisation charged with trying to clean up the industrial mess.
