Photographer's Note

Monastery in Achair, about 50km south of Omsk, toward the border with Kazakhstan. There is not much info on the web about this monastery, but it emerged in the late 1890s. John of Kronstadt was apparently there for the consecration. It seems to have been turned into a gulag under Stalin (http://www.suvenirograd.ru/sights.php?id=253&lang=2). Today, the monastery consists of a handful of churches and a bell-tower, dispersed over an open field, right by the Irtysh river.

Great shooting conditions helping the facade to glow, good descriptive image but could have been an idea to offcenter it and give moreimportance to the interesting cloudy sky

Absolutely beautiful pictures of the Orthodox Church. Baravně completely perfect. Blue sky here and there with some clouds, the golden dome of the church and beautifully green forest. The church is Sotra to the smallest detail.

This monastery really is very interesting on its architecture. The cathedral in your picture (Uspenskiy) is considered as one of the nicest religious buildings in Russia. You have captured it excellently, with great light and colors. In comparison with photos of the cathedral on sobory.ru your shot seems to be the best. Perfectly good job!
