Assumption Cathedral, a photo from Vladimir, Center

Photographer's Note

It is the unique monument of the white-stone architecture of Vladimir and Suzdal. The church was built in 1158-1160 by prince Andrei Bogolyubsky as a principle church of the Vladimir-Suzdal principality. The cathedral stands on a high hill over the Klyazma river. Its original shape expressed the dignity of Vladimir as a capital city and the power of the prince. Its cupola was shining like gold, its exterior walls were decorated with carvings and paintings. The vault rested on 6 pillars and was crowned with a single dome.

Hi Arthur,
This is a great picture. I have always admired the unique architecture of the Russian churches. The cupolas against the cloudy sky with also the sunshine on it has a very good effect.

Your choice of position for this picture worked well - it's a solid composition, nicely done. I see it's from a similar angle as your last one (but after crossing the road!). This one's better, I think.

A very good architecture shot. The whole surface used and level after level with details. Even though there are no real diagonal lines there is a nice diagonal lyout of the overall composition leaving a triangel of sky. Well done Arthur!

Good shot, I like the white part as the foreground, the other part against the great "dark" sky is wonderful and also the lampposts as fine details, great shot, Arthur.

You have some wonderful pictures of Russian churches, Arthur. Another great capture of the light on the golden domes. Good contrast between the bright and darker buildings. Interesting sky too.
