Photographer's Note
The Pokrov church is situated on the river Nerl in the middle of a plain near the city of Vladimir. In spring the island where the church lies is almost flooded by the melting water. Although it is small church the great architecture surrounded by pure nature makes this church one of the most beautiful spots in Russia.

You found so special object to start at Trek Earth! It's hard to find something more symbolic in Russia, and something more meaningful. I like this photo very much, welcome on TE!

Welcome to TE dear Gerry!
What a shot! I can nearly feel the Russian soul emanating from this picture! The white church in the centre offers a nice contrast to the bright colours framing the whole picture. Well done!
Regards
Olga
PS: I spent some days in Vladimir myself last year with some close friends of mine (one of them is also called Gerhard like you!!) and was very impressed by the old churches.

Hello,
a very nice church indeed, beautifully surrounded by greenery. The composition is nice, though I would prefer the view without the grass in front of the river. But just a personal opinion. However, I thought that a slight increase in contrast and decrease in brightness would improve the photo. I have done a WS, I am satisfied, maybe you will like it too.
Best regards Kristof
