Photographer's Note
"Kana Irrichcha Atha" (Elephant with a torn ear) is a wild and angry matriarch who does not tolarate vehichles and attacks all that passes by. A few months before this shot was taken her calf was runover while crossing the main road running across the Minneriya resevation. Without any exageraion we had a near death expierince seconds after this shot, as she attcked us,(The shot was taken about ten paces away from her), for some luck I am here to relate the story !!!
