Photographer's Note

Part of the Mon village of Wang Kha, on the bank of the Songkalia River which feeds into the man made lake called Kheuan Khao Laem.

This is a lovely, charming village of wonderfully friendly people (so typical of Burma), yet it is also one of the places in Thailand most populated by international relief workers, refugee camps, and orphanages. It is about as close as one can come to being in Burma without crossing the border.

Photo taken in the harsh afternoon sunlight, cropped, and contrast increased slightly.
